Kelsey's Fall Soup
Rosemary! Thyme! Butternut Squash! Sweet Potato! Zucchini! "Fall in a Bowl!" she says.
"Don't mind if I do" I think, "Fall. Right. In."
Try replacing the orzo with quinoa for extra deliciousness, and cliché health food-ness. Bonus: quinoa has protein. Take that, cold & flu season! It's also gluten free. Take that, gluten!
The most sincere thank you to Scripps & Food Network for bringing us the wonderfully veg-friendly Kelsey Nixon.

Kathie & Hoda's Black Forest Cake
How about a 4-ingredient CAKE that's dairy free, egg free and fat free, using only ONE pan?
Behold Cathy Mitchell, cookbook author of Dump Cakes, to make it happen for us.
Use any flavor soda, any flavor cake mix she says. Oh, I will. The dessert possibilities are endless. (A ton of prepared cake box mixes are accidentally vegan, just read through those ingredients!)
How much does Cathy's laugh make you miss her better half from those grill infomercials? That dude with glasses? Love him.
A hugely sincere thank you to Today for the glorious hour that is Kathie Lee & Hoda - and the glorious cooking segments they bring!
p.s. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 30 to 40 minutes or until cake is set. Cool 15 minutes.

Rachael & Andy's Mint Cookies
This confirms it, guys. It is impossible to melt a batch of semi-sweet chocolate chips without stealing -ahem- tasting a couple. Handfuls. A couple handfuls.
Also how lovely that the lead-in is talking about how rescuing dogs & animals is the best? These two. So thoroughly enjoyable.
Enjoy your thin mints, courtesy the perfectly easy, simple, creative Rachael Ray Show. And her crew. Who made those perfect ones they were eatin. Bravo.

Hille's Candy Cake
I love accidentally vegan anything: always randomly readin ingredient labels.
And accidentally vegan cake takes the... ...cake.
(Cake is my favorite food group).
International sections of grocery stores, may you always hold such delightful vegan treasures!
This baby was very light, fluffy, airy and not too sweet at all. It's made with rye flour and love. Oh and fascinating ingredients like "candied" and "burned" sugars. AMAZING.

Ina's Chunky Pea Soup
I'm with Ina. Why peel your cute lil potatoes if you don't have to? And why do we have to anyway? Skins on!
And not to sound veg-cliché - but this hearty, simple vegan soup is full of protein. Peas are just packed with it.
Thanks to Ina Garten, Food Network & Scripps for eschewing the ham hocks and sharing this classic one-pot meal with us vegetarians!

Ritter Sport's Marzipan Chocolate
Y'know at the beginning of Thelma & Louise, they're on the phone and Thelma is eating a chocolate bar? And she keeps taking a bite and putting it away in the freezer. Then opening up the freezer again and taking another bite, over and over?
That.
With this.
And it is a gorgeous thing in your mouth; room temperature, cold, or frozen.
Have at it.
It's vegan.

The most sincere thank you to Rachael Ray, Food Network & Scripps for showing us around those folate-rich stems!

Trisha's Thai Salad
Just try and watch this clip without immediately making a salad. It's impossible. (I had to.. and I never make 'em.)
Sure the dressing ingredients are similar to cake (you'll see) - but at least everything else is literally just vegetables and legumes. All good!
Also, that lasagna they serve it with? It's vegan! 100% totally completely: http://youtu.be/IKv6sopE8J0
Thanks to Trisha Yearwood, Ellen Rakieten, Garth Brooks, Scripps & Food Network for this incredibly refreshing food show. Seriously. Healthy, unique, smart and simple. Thank you!

Rachael's Pumpkin Pasta
Not only is canned pumpkin creamy, it creates a sauce reminiscent of those fluorescent orange macaroni & cheese powder packets?!
Pumpkin, where have you been all our lives.
(I love how Rachael Ray talks about the whole wheat penne having protein. It's true, there's protein just about everywhere. Let the cows keep theirs, amirite.)
A huge thank you to Food Network, Scripps & Rachael Ray for all the glorious work they put into 30 Minute Meals.

Rachael & Avril's Cookies
The method for this cookie reminds me of Rice Krispie Squares.
Who needs marshmallow? Nobody. Who wants chocolate? ERRYBODY.
Can we talk about how great these are in terms of being allergy aware? If you're lactose intolerant, or have an allergy to eggs? VERY. Very great.
Thank you to the Rachael Ray Show for lettin Avril in the kitchen. We love.

You may be like me and think you know how to make chickpea stew, but the way he pronounces paprika and uses a potato masher at the end will make you realize you have no $'n clue.
Also. Seriously. Where did Dave Lieberman go and how can we get him back?!
Thank you to Scripps for this beautifully classic clip. An affordable, vegan one-pot weeknight dinner, not bad huh!

Snyder's Jalapeño & Sour Linkz
Sweet 'n Savory.
The balance lets you go longer. One cleanses the palate for the other, non?
Snyder's of Hanover Jalapeño Sourdough Pretzels have become the snack I think of when I'm eating all other snacks. Be warned. They are out of this world.
Maynards Sour Patch Kids Linkz. We think their machinery broke. It's the centipede of candy, and that's a good thing.

Thank you to ABC & Gordon Elliott for the constant daytime joy that is The Chew!
Saturday, July 26, 2014
Giada's Swiss Chard
I love the enunciation and how Giada is using her hands excessively in this clip... Love! Everything seems super hyper-exaggerated. Like it's for little kids? Like learning how to properly cook Swiss Chard isn't exciting enough already? (It totally is)!
The most sincere thank you to Giada De Laurentiis, Food Network & Scripps for this healthy spaghetti dish and the general loveliness that is Everyday Italian.
Friday, July 18, 2014
Trader Joe's Ice Cream
I'm usually (always) neurotic about rushing home with frozen foodstuffs so if you're like me take comfort in this: the best texture was when this guy had been in the car and softened up significantly.
So creamy, light, almost fluffy? Unreal! Coconut Milk & Trader Joe's for life.
Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Rachael's Chocolate Cupcakes
A sincere thank you to The Rachael Ray Show for the classiness, loveliness and info-fullness it brings to daytime tv.
The easiest chocolate cupcake recipe: if these two can do it, you can too! (No seriously. They both don't bake).
p.s. The frosting is made of tofu, so it not only is packed with protein, but it won't melt in the sun (this is why Rachael has a show: she smart).
You can find Mayim Bialik's vegan cupcake recipe here: Fudge Cupcakes
p.p.s. Many semi-sweet chocolate chips are accidentally vegan, especially store brands.

Thanks to the Food Network & Scripps for bringing us her kitchen deliciousness!

Ginger Cayenne Chocolate
How much do you love a store where the checkout line display includes vegan chocolate bars?
Thank you, Bulk Barn.
This firm, snappy guy isn't too sweet. It has a white filling that isn't really creamy or nougaty, almost like an extension of the chocolate, but with a lil gingery kick to it.

Michael Symon's Risotto
Did you know the total cook time for risotto is about 18 minutes?
Do you want to see Clinton Kelly play the part of Grandma Symon?
Most importantly, the Symon family risotto: No butter, no cream. "It gets creamy because of the process" Seriously, Chef Symon mentions it twice! "You don't need butter or cream to make it creamy and delicious. It happens because of the technique."
Mario Batali & Michael Symon commiserate: nothing worse than a restaurant finishing off their risotto with a whole buncha cream/butter.
In endless awe & appreciation for the wonderful world of The Chew.
We thank you, ABC and Gordon Elliott!
